Brand new, excellent condition, export quality. Thimble ?"Butterflies"?, Porcelain, hand-painted LFZ, 1990s, 20th century ? Many legends have been woven about Lomonosov Porcelain Factory thimbles. Quite serious "thimble" publications claim: thimbles were produced at LFZ before the revolution. The Factory Museum has no pre-revolutionary thimbles, nor any information about their production. Moreover, no such thimbles are kept in any other museum or private collection. In porcelain literature, LFZ thimbles are not mentioned, nor are there any references in memoir literature. This is explained by the fact that in Russia thimbles were not made into a cult as in Europe or North America; here they were used only for their intended purpose — for needlework. Thimble collectors were practically nonexistent in Russia, so porcelain thimbles were not produced before the revolution. Incidentally, at the factory itself (not just the museum) nothing is known about the existence of such thimbles. It can be assumed that LFZ thimbles began production no earlier than 1997. At least we will stick with this statement until more reliable information is obtained. ? In excellent condition. 2.5 cm height, 1.7 cm in diameter ?
