Vols I and II cover the British Isles, Vol III covers France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Spain and Vol IV covers the same but also Norway and The Channel Islands. There are 13 steel engraved plates in each volume, so 52 in total as well as many b/w wood engravings throughout the text, many of which are full page. Bound in half dark brown leather on pinky brown cloth hardboards. 5 gilt bands, dark green leather title blocks and gilt lettering to the spines. Vol I has some staining to the boards, several tears to the leather and wear to corners. Vol II has white spots to the front boards, torn leather to corners and hinges and head and tail of the spine. Faded strip to the top edge of the rear board. Vol III has some damp staining to the front board, some tears to the leather to hinges and corners. Faded strip to top edge of rear board. Vol IV has some fading to the boards, tears to the leather to hinges and corners. Faded strip to top edge of rear board. All boards firm though. Marbled endpapers and page edges. Pages clean, apart from foxing to last couple of pages, and firmly bound. Each volume is 288 pages long. 31 x 23 cm.
